What its About: I think Cyclorama is about the rewards of Life, and how it seems like we're trapped in that grand hamster wheel [rat race, etc.] and never getting anywhere, or are we? The wheel turns, taking us down the road, and its what we do that determines wetehr we get the carrot [rewards], or the stick [punishments].
Overall Impressions: Overall, Cyclorama is a great album with few things I have any sort of problem with. For that matter, I have no real problems with any of the songs, they're all good in their own ways, but I do have my own personal preferences that I listen to more than others. The presence of Glen Burtnik and Lawrence Gowan on this album are noticed, but it all still retains some measure of Styx-ness that we've all come to love. I'd still like to see a bit more of JY singins, but the two tracks here are more than enough to satisfy me, as they both are great songs. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, though if you're truly smoeone in the trench about Dennis, I advise you to take a very open mind in and really give it a chance. Sure, Gowan is no Dennis, but I don't want that. They're their own people, and Cyclorama proves that. Between Brave New World and Cyclorama on which is my favorite... I couldn't pick. They're both great for their own reasons, and not because one or the other features a certain keyboardist!
