What its About: Money, desires, hopes, aspirations, the darker sides of humankind [lust, greed, etc.] and yet our brighter sides as well.
Overall Impressions: Pieces of Eight... where to begin... an album I should listen to more; its a great piece of work [and it helped me name this site!] with quite a few loves. Its fairly strong, and also very representatve of what Styx is - one of the four triple-platinum albums Styx had in a row, and a very strong contender in the way of the mid-ranking albums on my list, heading for high. Not only is there hope and faith in oneself, there's also persereverance within the songs. There's also the caution of the dark side of man, to be ary of greed and gambling, and not to risk it all. Its a rather complex album in texture overall, and its Styx leaning more heavily into the "augmented" side - synthesization abounds, yet its still Styx. The title track is very powerful, though sadly not heard much at all.
